<i>Ciris</i> 250–258 and 340–348: Textual Problems and Poetic Techniques

This contribution discusses the text of two passages in Ciris. At 256 marmoreum intra is taken as an ellipsis for limen intra. 257 Carme tentatively proposed inquit. It argued that transmitted hic (340), which his was substituted Aldina 1517, should be retained text. Arguments are presented support Gaar’s spe mulserat (341) and Woodman’s subducere (342). 344 bibulum restinguens lumen understood sitim bibuli luminis.
